A Fox, Chicken and Sack of Grain

You have a fox, a chicken and a sack of grain. You must cross a river with only one of them at a time. If you leave the fox with the chicken he will eat it; if you leave the chicken with the grain he will eat it. How can you get all three across safely?

Fox and (little) chicken

Take the chicken over first. Go back and bring the grain next, but instead of leaving the chicken with the grain, come back with the chicken. Leave the chicken on the first side and take the fox with you. Leave it on the other side with the grain. Finally, go back over and get the chicken and bring it over.

Take the chicken, go back grab the fox, when you drop off the fox take the chicken back with you, leave the chicken but grab the grain, go across and leave the grain with the fox, then go back and get the chicken…. then cook the chicken because you are craving KFC but you are in the middle of the woods…. the end

How do you get a chicken off of a boat, put it down, and pick up a wild fox, without the fox attacking the chicken? I mean, assuming these two animals care about nothing but eating. Since, in reality, they would just run away from you. Nothing about this riddle is logical.

You take the chicken across, and leave the fox and the feed together. Go back and get the feed. Leave the feed and take the chicken back with you. Pickup the fox and leave the chicken. Leave the fox with the feed and go back to get the chicken. All three get across and nothing is eaten.

Shoot the chicken and eat it, shoot the fox and throw it in the river with the grain. Go to the pub.

Take the grain across and leave it. Come back and pick up the fox, take the fox across, leave the fox and put the grain back on the boat, take the grain back and leave it, pick the chicken up and take it across to the fox. Leave the chicken and come back for the grain, row back with the grain, job done.

Take the chicken, come back, take the fox and bring the chicken back, leave the chicken and take the grain across, come back and fetch the chicken.
