Two Fathers and Two Sons

Two fathers and two sons go fishing together in the same boat. They all catch a fish but the total catch for the day is three fish. How is this possible?

There are three men: A grandfather, a father (the grandfather’s son) and the father’s son.

So the grandfather is a daughter? Otherwise there would be 2 fathers and 3 sons if we are just counting how many fathers and sons there are. You can’t just not count one.

Oh my gosh. You people just don’t get it do you. It’s so simple to understand if you take the time in silence to really think about really hard.

so it says and two fathers so there are actually three its trying to trick you there are two sons because the youngest is the son of the father and then the father is the son of the grandfather of the youngest and the the grandfather is a father and so is the father of the youngest so 2 fathers which are the grandfather of the youngest and the father of the youngest and the two sons the youngest is a son and the father of the youngest is the son of the grandfather of the youngest try to make since out of that its hard to explain.

There could be an absurd answer. ie.One of the fish took two bait. Hence, two line landed a single fish. It happened during one of my fishing trip many years ago.

I have to support Mattybo. If there are 3 male fishermen then there are three sons too unless one of the men hasn’t been born to a mother. It’s not stated that the fathers of the two sons are actually in the boat too.
