I looked at it as fractions. 1/2, 3/4 and 5/? If you stick with the pattern of odd numbers in the numerator and doubling the denominator then to complete the puzzle the ? becomes an 8.
Although I know the answer is “R” (as stated several times throughout this thread), I did notice another pattern. Top left (1) plus bottom middle (4) equals the top right (5). Invert the pattern and you get bottom left (2) plus top middle (3) equals the unknown bottom right (?). By taking this pattern into consideration, the bottom right missing number would be 5. However, it is important to remember that this is just an observation I made and not necessarily the answer intended by the author.

What a coincidence, then, that in pack of playing cards there are 13 kinds, 52 total and 4 suits. I’d just have left an empty space after the 4!

Janet, that’s what I came up with, as well. I couldn’t do anything else with the 4 except for their being 4 people in a bridge game.
I also thought of this:
1 3 5 2 4 ?
13 weeks in a quarter
52 weeks in a year
24 hours in a day
60 minutes in an hour ???

(4*4)-3=13
Answer is 8

2+4+3=9
Answer is 3
Pieter says

My answer was 7.
7 is the only remaining number (0 to 9) that does not have any curves, only straight lines.
R only applies to certain vehicles and therefore it cannot be true in all cases.

It’s just depending on how u look at it, it could be a representation of a car’s gear, or it could be whatever else you can think of.
Mark says
March 2, 2021 @ 06:01
R is the answer because It’s representation of a stick shift, where 1-5 are gears , and R is represent as reverse.
