Same Forward, Backward and Upside Down

What word is the same written forward, backward and upside down?

NOON. The word needs to be a palindrome and made up of only these letters that look the same upside down:

H I N O S X Z

For instance, SOON doesn’t work, because even though each letter looks the same upside down, it reads NOOS.

NOON only works with capital. If you use lower case – It does not work either. “uoou”

SWIMS does work

Dan says

SWIMS does not work. It has to be the same backwards and SWIMS spelled backwards is SMIWS.

bob says

The answer is NOON. (read the same backwards, as well as upside down)

SOS would work, its not offically an acronym, misconception (save our ship… ) it is the letters morse code (long short long) so it is a word as such.

SWIMS is the same if you flip it upside down as it is up the right way..
HANNAH is a palindrome (same backwards as forwards)
NOON forwards and backwards and (if capitals) upside down as well)
Havivah (read backwards)
minim (read backwards
SOS (upside down and backwards)

A prime example of a front to back Palindrome sentence is

“A man, a plan, a canal: Panama”

“Are we not drawn onward to new era?” another..

but it is very rare to find the upside down palindromes (unless they are designed like the ambigrams) but yes SWIMS and NOON is an upside down palindrome (recalling the word comes from the Greek palin (“again”) and dromos (“way, direction”) so upside down is included.

BOB, spelled backwards is BOB, and upside down (not rotated 180!) is still BOB

So about that 180 rotation – B ends up backwards. But if by upside down you mean flip the letter over like one would do if it were a physical object on the table, then B is still B. I conclude that the words “upside down” are therefore slightly ambiguous. For if I have a one word sign, and flip it over I get a different result than if I take the same sign and rotate it 180 degrees, and still yet a third result if I am able to take each letter on the sign and flip or rotate them individually. Three different results! So how about a word that fits them all! l0l :-) alright, it’s an acronym
