“today” is not a date, XI, etc are roman numeral ‘numbers’. M/DD/YY and ‘a date’ are not written “in” 5 letters, but “with” 5 letters.
Dates I can think of are ‘first’, ‘third’, ‘fifth’ and ‘ninth’. These are relative dates.
