It’s a match. Not a couple match but like a fire match. When you first use a fire match it is red on it’s head scratch it’s head and fire is created then burning the match head making it black.

A “cap” that we used to use with a cap pistol! They come in rolls – treat one off & scratch it, or hit it with a hammer, & it turns black from being popped & burned. Same principle as striking a match.

The answer is match. When the match isn’t used, the tip is red, and when it is used the tip is black because it is burnt.
