Solve this one carefully!
230 – 220 x 0.5 = ?
You probably won’t believe it, but the answer is 5! How can this be true?
The answer is 120, and 5! = 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1 = 120

Of course the answer is 5( confirmed by calculator ), no surprises there!
In the absence of brackets, how did you get 120?
Thank You!

Because multiplication is always performed before subtraction (in the absence of brackets)

It’s not 5, it’s 120, order of operations.

Right, it’s 5!

Well, if the calculation was worked out in the right order the correct answer would be 120, unless brackets are put in – multiplication comes before subtraction.
