I don’t get it.

Is it implied that they are looking at each other? (Rather than one-way unrequited looking.)

Wrong, we don’t know if Anne or George are human. The answers unknown. Get on my level scrubs.

Wait. What? Your logic is based on an “if statement” which makes it indeterminable as an if statement can branch to two (or more) outcomes and we don’t know exactly what her marital status is. If that is logic then we are in trouble.

It all depends on who george is looking at.

Assume –
U = Unmarried M = Married

If Anne is Unmarried:
M (Jack) -> U (Anne) -> U (George)

If Anne is Married:
M (Jack) –>M (Anne) –>U (George)

In both ways Its M —> U (Married looking at Unmarried)
Therefore
(A) Yes

The marital status of Ann is entirely irrelevant

The question is valid. It’s not asking who is married/unmarried. It’s asking if a married person is looking at an unmarried person. The answer is “Yes.” The detail of Anne’s marriage status is only relevant when you want to know who is actually married/unmarried which is not what the question was asking.

That’s incorrect because Anne’s marital status is not disclosed to it cannot be determined. I do NOT go through life living on assumptions I state and live by fact

The answer is “C) Cannot be determined” because it is not stated that John, Anne and George are people

The question however directly askes about a “person”

So if John is a cat, who is looking at Anne the dog, who is looking at George the turtle,
Then the answer is B) No.

But you do not have the information about the species

Yes. There are enough facts. No assumptions necessary

very controversial IQ test question… the analogy for picking “yes” is not convincing yet.

I find it fascinating that anyone would consider the answer controversial. The answer is logically irrefutable.

Anne would be unmarried. This is to why Anne is depressed. She is looking at ‘HERSELF’ in the mirror. Which basically is telling us: Anne is Unmarried, but George is Married. John is married with George. Therefore, Anne is left out and is suicidal.

Jack is married. If Jane is unmarried, then YES.. Jack, a married person is looking at Jane, an unmarried person. However, if Jane is married, then she is the married person looking at George, the unmarried person. GG.

Marriage is a social construct between persons, not animals. We are told that Jack is married so therefore we can assume he is a person. Likewise, we may infer that George is a person given the statement that he is unmarried, since there would be no point in declaring the marital status of a subject that couldn’t possibly be married.
