What Has Roots Nobody Sees?
What has roots that nobody sees,
Is taller than trees,
Up, up it goes,
Yet it never grows?
A mountain (from Tolkien)

Ok so i was on a website and saw this riddle and i thought i figured out the answer and then i clicked to see the answer and it said mountains…idk how a mountain has roots that nobody sees, and i looked on a forum and people were arguing between kite and mountain….my thought was an airplane,
It has roots, (route) play on words kind of thing, it has a root thats never seen
It goes up up up and never grows
And its taller than a tree
Just my thought

@Mikem Mountains have roots. Here’s a geological society article about them.

….except mountains do grow (it’s called orogeny in geology). The Himalayas are still growing faster than the rate they are being weathered down.

I see a kite high in the sky but the string and person “rooting it to the earth” are often not within my eyesight (unseen). Kites go up, up, up -higher than the trees- but they do not grow.
Makes sense to me. Mountains…not so much. Mountains do grow. That’s what makes them mountains.? And roots?????
